Monique's school was across the
street from the Hastings Community Centre where she would go
swimming. |

Across from the community center
on Hastings street, a seasonal amusement park called Playland
delighted Monique throughout her life in Vancouver. Enough cotton
candy and roller coasters to ensure permanent childhood. |

Before Monique could finish 4th
grade at Dr. A. R. Lord, the Ishikawa house was torn down for a
freeway on-ramp and they moved to 3423 Lynnmoor Place in the
Champlain Heights area of South Vancouver. |

Monique relished going to school
with her old friend Lia
Cosco. She made many new friends at
Champlain Heights Elementary at 6955 Frontenac Street, including
Stephanie Scott. |
